Womens synthetic insulated jackets are a great alternative to down jackets as the synthetic fibre doesn't flatten when wet, so will continued to trap warm air and will dry quickly. Choose a womens synthetic insulated jacket for cold days where you don't need a waterproof shell jacket but where it doesn't matter if there's the odd shower or two on your hike.

Synthetic insulation is a man made substance that is composed of very fine fibres of polyester that has been stretched into filaments that intertwine and form dense, air trapping pockets of warm air. PrimaLoft, Climashield, Berghaus HydroLoft and The North Face Heatseeker are some of the more common names that you'll see when looking at our womens synthetic insulation jackets.

More recently brands have realised that people want the warmth of down but with the properties of synthetic insulation and some have changed the way they apply the insulation to the jacket. Such an example if The North Face ThermoBall products which are tiny balls of PrimaLoft which have been designed to mimic the down structure. These balls of insulation are packed into baffles and are designed to reduce the weight and compressibility of the garment.

Womens synthetic jacket insulation are graded by CLO measurement rather than Fill Power. A Clo is a unit of warmth but are rarely used by brands other than Berghaus simply because they're not a reliable unit of measurement. Most brands will state that their synthetic insulation is the equivalent to a certain fill power instead.
