A no nonsence rucksac.
If you are looking for a dependable high capacity bag then this is ideal. The material is heavy duty, the zips are good quality and the stitching is strong. Overall the quality is excellent. I have used an identical cyclops II back system and hip belt on the Atlas model for a number of years and it is extremely comfortable and effective at carrying heavy loads in comfort.
The polyurethane inner coating seems to be thinner than on earlier models. So I would recommend using a liner in wet weather - either a dry bag (which I use cos it rains upwards as well as downwards in Scotland where I live) or simply a ye olde plastic rubble bag.
Also, take note that the pocket zips on the latest model zip DOWNWARDS, not upwards as detailed on the website photos.. This means that you will not be able to use PLCE pockets with this bergan (Military personel will know what I mean). It would seem that Berghaus have made the commercial decision that only their own brand MMMP pockets can be used now on the Vulcan.
A quality no frills product, Berghaus has lived up to its dependable reputation.
