Vango Venom 150 Sleeping Bag - Paprika

The Venom 150 Sleeping Bag is a lightweight sleeping bag from Vango. This mummy sleeping bag will appeal to mountain athletes, trekkers and backpackers thanks to its small weight and pack size but optimised warmth from a high loft goose down. This sleeping bag weighs in at less than 700g. A great 2 season sleeping bag from the Vango mountain sleeping bag range.

I bought two of these bags for the price of one. Reading that the comfort temperature was 11 Celsius I thought it would be perfect for lightweight summer camping and bikepacking. Unfortunately, even with all my clothes on, I was cold at night in July and August and I am not a cold sleeper. Next time I trip out I will take both and see if this improves my lot! I would recommend this bag for people who are travelling ultralight and don't expect to encounter night time temps of less than 15 Celsius. Any less than that and you won't be sleeping, merely shivering and barely dozing. The bag is a close fit (I am 6ft and quite broad) but not uncomfortable. I suspect were the bag any larger on me it would not work at all due to the air pockets. The bag packs down to the tiny size of about 2 cans of cola and is pretty light at 600g. Make sure you have a good thermarest or hammock insulation as the bag is so thin, especially on the underside. I was disappointed and expected more for the price, and from Vango, and wish I had saved a few more quid and forked out just over £100 for a 1000g bag that I know will keep me warm; I would happily carry another 400-600g to be able to sleep. I will be taking this bag when I travel Southern Spain this year and expect it to be more suitable, just beware if you intend to use it outside in the UK.
