Down filled Mat from Exped. Heat loss is dramatically reduced with goose down insulation. Both EMPA, the Swiss government's material test and research laboratory, and private expeditions assisted to provide tests for the Downmats. A thick cushion of air provides comfort and smooths out uneven ground. And down compresses well, so that Downmats pack smaller than other pads.
A combination pump and stuff sack is included for storing and inflating the mat. Pumping air rather than blowing it prevents humidity from reaching the down, which could clump or freeze. Foam has also been added to the pump sack to assist the inflation process.
Features
Two valves ensure fast, initial inflation and easy, quick deflation.
Similar to a sleeping bag, baffles between the mats' chambers eliminate cold spots and promote a stable and supportive air cushion.
Light foam helps to contain the goose down and prevents migration between chambers.
Fabric surfaces are made from laminated polyester fabric that is textured to be slip proof and airtight. High frequency welded seams and valves offer the strongest, most secure method of fusing fabrics and materials. Neutral colors dry quickly.
Small loops help to secure the packsack to the mat when it is used as a pillow.
