Denver To Host Snowboarding Event

The LG FIS World Cup Snowboard Big Air will take place in the city of Denver, US, it has been announced. The first Denver Big Air event will be held on January 25 and 26 next year at Civic Centre Park. The dates have been announced by Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, the Metro Denver Sports Commission and the US Ski and Snowboard Association. The event, featuring one of the largest man-made ramps ever built, will be presented by Sprint. The ramp will be 101ft high, 300ft long and 80ft wide. Hickenlooper said: "Imagine in real space seeing athletes flying hundreds of feet into the air right outside Civic Centre, and having the city and county building in the background. "We will have an opportunity to make history with a truly international spectacle." Previously, the event was hosted by Moscow, Barcelona, Quebec, Seoul and London.
