Osprey packs come all the way from Vietnam, however, the company started life in Santa Cruz, California, back in 1974. The brainchild of Mike Pfotenhauer, he had the hands on approach of designing the packs himself and maintaining control during the design process even to this day. Ensuring the Osprey rucksack or bag stays true to their ethos Pfotenhauer even up and moved to Vietnam, taking his family to Ho Chi Minh City to set up Osprey Vietnam Quality Control and Design Centre.

Everything is in-house with Osprey, some rucksacks taking up to 200 prototypes before finalising for a meticulousness and perfection.
