5 of the most romantic ski destinations
Winter is coming – and in case you didn’t know, skiing is one of the best vacations you can ever take. And not just because of all the fun in the snow you’re bound to have – but because of how incredibly romantic skiing can be too.
What makes skiing the perfect romantic getaway?
I’ve always thought it was kind of obvious – but if you need convincing then fine! Skiing is not only great fun (and fun is sexy!) but ski resorts are all so beautiful with incredible views and beautiful, breathtaking landscapes. Add into the mix Après Ski – and sipping hot chocolate under the stars near a roaring fire – and need I say more?
As with anything though, there are some resorts which exceed expectations, and which provide romance in generous helpings. Here’s a list of my favorites:
Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Some great skiing can be found here – but this resort is also amazing for romance as it has so much more than just ski slopes. You could take a romantic ride through the forest on a sleigh ride with champagne. Sound pretty damn perfect to us!
St Moritz, Switzerland
Switzerland is known for being pricy – but if you’re willing to splash the cash then this resort is going to be everything you dreamed of. I’d recommend staying in the glorious Badrutts Palace Hotel – a place where your every whim is going to be catered for. You’ll wake up in a king sized bed with a beautiful breakfast room service and incredible mountain views!
Aspen, USA
Aspen isn’t just famous for being in the Dumb and Dumber films – it actually is one of the most gorgeous ski resorts out there. Known for being classy and high-class you’re going to love it here if you love romantic luxury. The views are what make this place so romantic though – you can’t really get much better in this part of the world.
Lake Louise, Canada
Situate din the heart of Canada’s most beautiful national park, you’ll feel the romance turning up a notch when you arrive here. Book a hotel room overlooking the lake and mountains, and enjoy the world-class eateries in the evenings after you’ve returned from the slopes.
Courchevel, France
This is one of the most sought after resorts in the Alps, and you’ll want to book early if you want to stand a chance of grabbing a room in the good hotels. In the nicest of the hotels (we’d recommend The Byblos) you’ll get incredible views, but also a lively and romantic neighboring ski village full of things to do after the skis have been hung up.
Whistler, Canada
This is one of the most well know ski resorts in the world – and with good reason. Whistler has the perfect blend of charming and busy – so you’ll make new friends whilst you’re out on the slopes too. Great for couples wanting to inject romance into their lives by learning a new skills or having a little adventure. And bonding that way instead. Of course – the views are still incredible!
