Daypacks
Daypacks are smaller rucksacks that are ideal for single day hikes or travel and here we've added daypacks up to 40 litre capacity. Before you choose a daypack there are a few things you'll need to consider before you buy. A great tip about the size of the daysack you need: Don't buy a larger pack if you don't need it as you'll be lugging around the extra weight all day and you will be tempted to try and fill it!
For day hikes we suggest a 30 litre daypack but think about the other things you want from your pack. We suggest looking for a daypack with side pockets which allow you to stuff with a packable waterproof jacket or keep treats and water to hand. Consider a bungee front which allows you to stuff your jacket or helmet in and means you can attach kit off the back with a d ring or karabiner. Tool loops or ice axe/walking pole loops allow these items to be carried easily but still at hand. Some people like one large compartment, some like to be a little more organised with separate areas for their equipment so always open the bag.
Many daypacks now have hydration reservoir sleeves or compartments as standard so you can add a Camelbak or Platypus bladder easily.
With daypacks and rucksacks you really do get what you pay for. If you buy cheap you'll buy twice and you'll miss out on all the performance details, quality fabrics and a bag that will last!
