Walking in Dartmoor National Park

A new free magazine called Enjoy Dartmoor has been produced by Dartmoor National Park Authority as part of the celebrations of Dartmoor National Park’s 60th Anniversary. This full-colour guide to the National Park is packed with useful information, interesting features and plenty of ideas for having fun outdoors on Dartmoor. You can pick up your copy from the National Park Authority’s High Moorland Visitor Centre; Princetown, Postbridge and Haytor Information Centres or at many of the cafes, pubs and tourism businesses in and around Dartmoor. You can also see Enjoy Dartmoor online at www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk. Enjoy Dartmoor replaces the newspaper style free publication previously produced to help both visitors and residents make the most out of recreation on Dartmoor.  Read about the exciting Dartmoor dig carried out by Channel 4’s Time Team at Tottiford Reservoir, discover Dartmoor’s top ten adventures, feel inspired to try something new or have a go at volunteering. The full programme of National Park walks, activities and events is published in a new pocket size booklet Explore Dartmoor, available from National Park Centres. The programme has been put together to offer the walker a range of opportunities to experience Dartmoor at its best. Explore Dartmoor’s heritage on a ‘Past Times’ themed walk, get ‘Close to Nature’ or ‘Join a Ranger’. Those who wish to learn more about navigation can sign up to ‘Find your way’ and families and children can enjoy ‘Moor fun’. ‘Challenge yourself’ on a longer walk or get some specialist tuition in Nordic walking on a ‘Good for you’ themed walk. The programme also contains details of the popular ‘Easy-going tours,’ enabling those with mobility problems to enjoy a guided mini-bus tour. The programme of walks, activities and events is also published online. MAIN PHOTO - Houndtor; credit: Dartmoor National Park Authority
