We stock the Lamina and Hyperlamina range which are designed for camping in the UK and Europe. All of these bags are filled with synthetic insulation meaning they are quick drying, warm when wet and easy to care for. Lamina and Hyperlamina sleeping bags avoid cold spots forming and prevent heat loss by laminating or welding the seams and this anchors the insulation to the outer fabric rather than sewing it. Sewing creates holes which allows heat to be lost, whereas laminating doesn't have this problem. Mountain Hardwear uses Thermal Q insulation which is compressible but still remains lofty. This loftiness allows air to be captured by the fibres and this is warmed by the body which then keeps heat in the bag. Mountain Hardwear also uses zoned insulation which is similar to body mapping. This means thicker insulation is applied where you need to keep warm most, think around the kidneys for example. Areas where you don't need more warmth are thinner and this allows the bag to remain compact. Most of the Mountain Hardwear Sleeping Bags have a right and left hand to make zipping up your bag easier no matter which is your dominant hand. All of this range are mummy shaped bags which prevent cold spots forming and will keep heat inside the bag. Unlike other mummy sleeping bags, the Lamina range has a roomier footbox which allows for a natural foot position to aid comfort. Finally, look out for season ratings on these bags and the Comfort rating which will tell you what temperature the sleeping bag is designed to be used in.
