Browse our MSR Tent department for a lightweight, compact and fully featured tent this season. All tents have fully taped seams and are waterproof, with a hydrostatic head on the fly sheet of at least 1200mm. All of our tents are listed with their pack size dimensions, weight and a floor plan to make choosing simple. Most tents have 1 door but look out for 2 which allows for easy access when you're sharing the space. We list the denier fabric of the flysheet and the groundsheet which tells you how thick the material is and therefore how light and durable it will be. As MSR produce lightweight tents the range starts at 20D or 20 denier meaning they're incredibly light. The lower the number, the less durable the fabric so if you'll be camping near trees and their branches then look for a higher denier to prevent rips or tears. This aside, MSR camping tents are made from ripstop fabrics meaning a small tear won't grow larger and will allow you to patch it easily. Look out for siliconized flysheets which means the usual polyester fabric has a layer of silicone applied over the top. This prevents UV degradation and increases water run off meaning fabric won't wet through and cause leaks inside. Less expensive MSR tents will have a normal polyester flysheet with a DWR coating or Durable Water Repellent coating applied which also boost rain runoff. Some MSR tents include a footprint in the cost of the tent, this is fantastic value for money and will protect the underside of the groundsheet from dirt but also any stones that could cause rips. Throwing down a groundsheet first also allows you to mark where the tent will be laying before you pitch your tent meaning you can avoid slopes, trees and holes in the ground. The range now includes the new Hubba Tour series; a lightweight, touring tent which provides plenty of space, thanks to external pitching, for your bike and other kit. Check out the Elixir series for backpacking tents which are light but slightly more durable, and finally, the Hubba NX range for superlight backpacking tents.
